My interest in art began when I was very young, and much of my childhood was spent drawing and painting. At that time most of my subjects were horses, and although they are still a favourite, my subjects are now much more diverse.
Many things inspire me to paint, with landscapes, contemporary still life, animals and people all providing me with inspiration. My emphasis when painting is on the effects of light and capturing the essence of my subject. I paint mainly in oils, but also work in acrylic, mixed media, fine art coloured pencil, and graphite pencil, always using the highest quality materials.
After studying art to A-level at school, my studies have included the Open College of the Arts, life painting and drawing classes, various other courses and workshops, and ongoing study. My work has won a number of local and national awards, and is held in private collections in the UK, France and America.
I have completed many commissioned portraits, both of animals and people, and I also accept commissions for other subjects.
Paintings may be viewed at my Surrey studio by appointment.
As well as running a local art group near my home in Surrey, I give demonstrations and workshops, and welcome the opportunity to contribute and help other artists as I have been helped in the past.
For me the beauty of art is that it is a never ending journey, on which I am continually learning and growing.
